Matcha Mask

Matcha Mask

So lately I have been adding matcha powder to my diet since it contains so many benefits for your body. I wanted to see if there was a way to add it to my beauty routine. Matcha powder is basically ground up green tea leaves and green tea is great for redness!

I decided to use my matcha powder and turn it into a mask and it worked out amazingly! I wish I took a before and after of my face because before I used this mask I was picking my black heads with my pore extractor so my t-zone was all red. After I used the mask it was all gone! This mask is super easy to make (it probably took me a minute) and used with ingredients you can most likely find in your kitchen.

To transform my matcha powder into a mask, I add honey, coconut oil, water and tea tree oil.  Other than redness, matcha powder is full of antioxidants and natural antibiotics.  Matcha will detox your skin as well as protect it from harmful effects. Besides it having a nice consistency, I added honey because it has antibacterial/anti-fungal benefits great for acne, it is a pore cleanser, and a natural humectant. It is optional but I added a few drops of tea tree oil to give the mask an extra kick to fight acne.

What You Need:

  • 1 tsp Matcha Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Water
  • 1/2 tsp Honey
  • 1/2 tsp Coconut Oil
  • few drops of tea tree oil (optional)

Simply mix ingredients together until it is a wet paste consistency.  Apply to a clean face and leave on for about 10-15 minutes.  Rinse of with lukewarm water while massaging off with fingers.

Vanilla Latte Scrub

Vanilla Latte Scrub

This diy is a nice way to give your skin a pick me up.  It's super easy and you only need a few things for it. The benefits of using coffee grounds in your scrubs is that it tightens your skin which helps hide the appearance of cellulite. I love the way this scrub makes my skin feel afterwards.  The coffee really scrubs away those dead skin cells and the coconut oil and almond milk leaves your feeling smoothed and nourished.

What You Need

  • 3 Tbsp Coffee Grounds(I used my old French Vanilla grounds)
  • 2 Tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tbsp Almond Milk
  • Few drops of Vanilla Extract

In a jar add your coffee grounds, coconut oil, almond milk, and vanilla extract.  Mix all the ingredients together and if you prefer the scrub to be wetter add some more coconut oil.

Rose Petal Bath Bombs

Rose Petal Bath Bombs

Instead of throwing away your old roses from Valentine's Day, turn them into bath bombs! Its a fun way to re-purpose those flowers and extend the romance.

What you need

  • 4 Tbsp Baking Soda
  • 2 Tbsp Epsom Salt
  • 2 Tbsp Citric Acid
  • 2 Tbsp Corn Starch
  • 1/2 tsp Coconut Oil (melted)
  • 1 tsp Water
  • 1/2 Tsp of Rose Essential Oil (or other favorite flavor)
  • Rose Petals
  • Cupcake Tin or Bath Bomb Mold

Mix together Baking Soda, Epsom Salt, Citric Acid,  and Corn Starch.  In other dish mix add melted Coconut Oil, Water, and Essential Oils together.  Slowly add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mix well. Use your hands to see if ingredients clump together when you squeeze it in your hand.

Place your rose petals at the bottom of the mold. (Make sure they are completely dry because you bath bombs will start fizzing when it touches the roses.  It is okay though if it fizzes a little they will still work!) Take your bath bomb mixture and pack it in your mold.  Let your bombs dry for several hours before using!

Rose Petal Candle

Rose Petal Candle

So this is my first candle! I had some set backs but I did it! Since it is almost Valentines Day I wanted to stick to that romantic theme. When I think of Valentines Day and romance I think of roses and candles, so why not put them together! I imagined adding rose petals to a candle will give it a nice pop of color with the white wax, and I am very pleased at the way it ended up looking.

Oatmeal and Honey Mask

Oatmeal and Honey Mask

Make this easy mask in just 5 minutes with items you can find in your kitchen. This mask is great for moisturizing your skin and great acne-prone skin.  The oatmeal will absorb oils on your face, it's a natural anti-inflammatory, and is very moisturizing. Honey is a natural humectant, which will draw moisture from the air and into your skin. Honey is also a natural antibacterial, antiseptic, and antioxidant.  Lemons are also a natural antibacterial, they are rich and vitamin c and citric acid.  Which is perfect for those pesky blemishes and blackheads.  And for an extra acne killer, add tea tree oil! Tea Tree Oil is my go to for when I get pimples, it works wonders.

To make this super easy mask

  • 1/3 cup fine ground oatmeal
  • 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Honey
  • few drops of tea tree oil (optional for extra acne killer)

To make finely ground oatmeal, just throw your oatmeal in a blender or food processor. Mix all ingredients well. Apply to face and leave on for about 15 minutes. Be careful it can get a little messy because some of the oats may fall off.  When you are rinsing mask off massage in a circular motion. This will cause the oats to gentle exfoliate the dead skin on your face, leaving it feeling smooth and moisturized!

Margarita Sugar Scrub

Margarita Sugar Scrub

Happy Margarita Monday! I want to share with you my Margarita Sugar Scrub great for your body and your face.  It really does look and smell like a Margarita and there's nothing wrong with that!  This scrub is overall great for any skin type, but can be very beneficial for acne prone skin because of the lime and witch hazel. The sugar is nice and gentle exfoliate compared to salt which is perfect for your face and sensitive skin. And the coconut oil leaves your skin feeling smooth and hydrating.

DIY Ocean Salt Scrub

inspired by LUSH

DIY Ocean Scrub

For my first blog post I was inspired by this cold winter weather.  It leaves me with skin so dry and dreams of being at the beach. So I decided to share my DIY of Ocean Salt Scrub inspired by Lush. This scrub can be used as a body and facial scrub.  I love Lush products but my problem is my closest store is an hour away and some things can be a bit pricey.  So this DIY is a great alternative. Whats great about this scrub is that the ingredients are so beneficial to the skin.

Besides salt being a great exfoliant by removing dead skin.  Avocado's fatty acids are very moisturizing to the skin. Witch hazel will remove excess oils and shrink pores (which is great when using it on your face!), it is also know to treat blemishes and fade bruises. Since lime is a citrus fruit, it is full of Vitamin C, citric acid, and flavonoids. This allows lime to have many benefits and is rejuvenating to the skin. The Coconut milk is full of natural proteins and vitamins that leave your skin feeling smooth and radiant.  So this scrub is perfect for when your skin is feeling dull and dry.
