Deliciously Simple Lasagna

Deliciously Simple Lasagna

I love this recipe because it is so simple to make, yet it taste so amazing. And it smells like your Nonna has been cooking in your kitchen all day! I'll have to admit that even though it is simple to make you still have to put time into it! This lasagna takes about 50 minutes of prepping time and 45 minutes of cooking time.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef (or Ground Turkey)
  • 1 28oz Can of Crushed Tomatoes
  • 1 28oz Can of Tomato Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp of Fresh Basil or 2 tsp of Dried Basil
  • 1 Onion (chopped)
  • 5 Cloves of Garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • 8oz Package of Shredded Mozzarella
  • 8oz Package of Shredded Italian Cheese Blend
  • 15 oz Container of Ricotta Cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp of Italian Seasoning
  • 9 Lasagna Noodles (no-boil)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan

First things first, you need to preheat your oven to 375F. Next take a big pot and put your can of crushed tomatoes, can of tomato sauce, basil, and one of the cloves of garlic in it. Stir it occasionally, place on low-medium heat.

Next heat a Tablespoon of olive oil in a pan on medium-high heat. Add ground beef (or ground turkey), then season it with 1 tsp garlic and 1 tsp Italian seasonings. Fully cook meat, drain, then add to sauce.

Once meat is stirred into sauce, reheat another Tbsp of olive oil, saute garlic and onions(about 5 minutes). Stir onions and garlic into sauce. Cover the sauce so it doesn't splat everywhere, turn the heat to medium and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

While sauce is cooking, in a bowl mix package of shredded mozzarella and shredded Italian blend. In another bowl mix ricotta, eggs, milk, and 1/2 tsp of Italian seasonings.

Once sauce is done cooking, take a 9x13 pan, place a layer of sauce on bottom, place 3 lasagna noodles, cover in another layer of sauce, add a layer of ricotta cheese mixture, then a layer of shredded cheese mix. Repeat. Add the final 3 noodles cover with remaining sauce. (I had a lot of sauce leftover so I put it in a dish to save for later.) Then cover the lasagna with grated Parmesan.

Cover lasagna with foil. Place in oven. I always put it on a cookie tray under 9x13 because I tend to overload my lasagna and it drips. Bake lasagna for 30 minutes. Take out and uncover, bake for another 15 minutes.

Take out of oven, and enjoy!

  • 9 Lasagna Noodles (no-boil)

  • Heat a large sauce pot at low-medium heat. Mix in can of crushed tomatoes, can of tomato sauce, basil, and one clove of garlic.
  • In a pan heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil on medium-high heat. Add ground beef and season with 1 tsp garlic powder and 1 tsp of Italian seasoning. Brown ground beef(or ground turkey). Once fully cooked, drain meat, add to sauce.
  • In a pan heat 1 Tbsp of olive oil on medium high heat, Saute onion and garlic. Add to sauce.
  • Cover sauce so it does not splat out. Heat on medium, cook for 15-20 minutes, stir occasionally.
  • While sauce is cooking, mix package of shredded mozzarella and package of shredded Italian blend in bowl. In another bowl mix ricotta, milk, eggs, and 1/2 tsp of Italian seasoning.
  • Once sauce is finished cooking, take a 9x13 pan and add a layer of sauce on the bottom. Add 3 lasagna noodles, another layer of sauce, a layer of ricotta mixture, and a layer of shredded cheese. Repeat. Then add final 3 noodles, remaining sauce, and grated Parmesan.
  • Cover with foil, bake for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 15 minutes. Enjoy!
